Maddy’s first political event!

Maddy and I went to our first political event, an awesome brainstorming put on by North Bay Patriots (www.northbaypatriots.com). It was our first event of this nature. Maddy was the youngest person there, and despite the fact that 99.9% of the time when a stranger asks her a question she says nothing, when they put the microphone in front of her and asked her name she said “Madison” and when they asked how old she was she said “Eleven”! I was floored! It was awesome! There I was, all poised to answer the questions for her like I usually do (I give her a few seconds and if she just looks back at them and says nothing, I answer for her) and she totally answered them for herself!
We didn’t stay for the entire event, even though I wanted to so badly! She had sat with me patiently through 4 hours of talking and brainstorming and sharing, and when I asked if she wanted to stay after lunch she said “No, I want to go home” so off we went!
I was impressed with her in another way, as well: She brought her Nintendo DS and a new book in which she writes the story (she loves creative writing), but I asked her several times if she wanted them and she shook her head “no” every time! She was in it with me, paying attention the entire time.
Needless to say, I am one blessed Dad, and got an extra helping of gratitude today by attending this event with my wonderful little girl! God is good, all the time!

awwww!! how sweet is that! Daddy and daughter at a Political event together. That’s one thing that joins Maddy and Daddy is their willingness to try new things that the other may be interested in. It may have taken a large crane & bulldozer to get me to that event but not Madison. If her daddy goes she goes. That’s why they are joined at the heart.
